Mr. Wale Oladepo, father of the corps member, Ifedolapo Oladepo who died at the National Youth Service Corp orientation camp in Kano State has insisted that his daughter death was as a result of the negligence of NYSC officials.
While speaking at a press conference in Osogbo on Monday, Mr. Oladepo said the NYSC was trying to cover up its faults.
Oladepo said his daughter left home hale and hearty, contrary to a report by the NYSC that she had a urinary tract infection which resulted in kidney injury and her death.
He said the deceased sent the photograph of her hand showing rashes after an injection was administered on her.
He said, “The death certificate issued by the Gwazo General Hospital, Kano, said she had sepsis that led to kidney infection. I wonder if truly she had kidney infection, does the camp have proper medical facilities to have kept her and why taking her to the General Hospital with no facilities to treat such ailment.
“Hence, by implication, whatever ailment may have developed when she got o the camp could not have resulted to death if she had been promptly attended to and taken care of. However, she died out of the negligence and the lackadaisical attitude of the NYSC.”
Mr. Oladepo further said the family has evidences to back up its claims.
